Bill Bowles & DLOG have been visiting the Chassahowitzka Island Lodge for almost 20 years. This is a fishing destination that everyone should have on their “bucket list “. It is one of the most unique and special destinations that we have enjoyed. When the boats pick you up at the State Park Dock in Homosassa Florida, It is only minutes before you begin to realize how special this place is. This is true Florida at its finest. The water is very clear. There are Manatees and Bald Eagles. As you approach the Chassahowitzka River you take a quick left turn up into the opening of Crawford Creek. As you wind your way down this creek you can feel the stress leave your body. It feels like you are worlds away from the hustle and bustle of civilization.

Then on the right the lodge appears and you pull up to the dock to be welcomed to the island. Once you realize that every piece of lumber has been transported in the flats boats that brought you to the island you are amazed. The island operates on generator power. Cell phones usually work, but we hope you don’t need it. There is no WIFI . It is time to relax. Each bedroom downstairs in the lodge has a screened in porch. You can open the sliding doors and listen to the Whippoorwills sing you to sleep each night. You will be awakened by the smell of coffee and bacon in the upstairs kitchen. After a great breakfast it is down the stairs and out to the dock to meet your guides and enjoy a day fishing inshore. No long boat ride. The guides know the best places to go and you will enjoy their personality and knowledge. Tight Lines everyone!
